Western Colloid Announces Opening of Asphalt Emulsion Plant in Texas

As Western Colloid proudly announces the completion of phase 2 of their Texas manufacturing plant, they would like to acknowledge the contributions of Mr. Steve Widmer, our Texas Plant manager.

Steve, moved from California to Texas 3 years ago to establish a distribution presence in Texas and then spearhead the construction of first, our acrylic coatings plant, and now our asphalt emulsion manufacturing capabilities.

Asphalt Emulsion, our product #298, is an important component of many of our fluid applied roof systems.  With the addition of this manufacturing line we now offer a full line of Western Colloid products made in Texas.

Steve has worked in the specialized field of coatings manufacturing since the early 70’s and helped build the machinery and systems that produce Western Colloid’s quality products at our other locations.  Along with out company Operations Manager, Charlie Garabedian, he helped build first our Oakland plant followed by our Los Angeles plant.

“We are really proud of the quality of products coming out of the Texas plant. It was a combined effort building this facility. We utilized our experience with new technologies and created a state of the art factory” states Widmer.

“We are thrilled to now be able to meet or exceed contractor demand”, says Greg Hlavaty, President of Western Colloid, “It was imperative to have a plant centrally located in Texas to properly serve our Midwest demand.  Part of what makes Western Colloid’s products sought after is its’ fleet of tankers focused on removing the burden of delivery, material handling and storage off the contractor.”

If you are ever near Alvarado Texas stop in and see Steve and the gang.  Chances are they are mixing up something special for your next roof project.
