FM GLOBAL
FM Global and the FM 4470 Approval Standard for Class 1 Roof Covers.
Founded in 1835, FM Global is a Fortune 500 company that insures $10 trillion in properties across 130 countries. The company employs 5,600 people and operates the West Gloucester Research Campus, a 1,600-acre facility that stands as the world’s largest and most sophisticated center for advancing the science of property loss prevention.
The FM 4470 Approval Standard for Class 1 Roof Covers evaluates products based on the following five criteria:
1. ASTM E108 Spread of Flame
2. FM Severe Hail
3. Susceptibility to Leakage
4. Foot Traffic
5. Wind Uplift

CRRC
The CRRC offers product ratings for roofing products listed and labeled with information about the product’s surface radiative performance (solar reflectance and thermal emittance). After initial testing the sample is sent to a CRRC Approved Test Farm where it will be exposed to outdoor weathering for three years. After three years of field exposure, the weathered specimens are sent back to an AITL for aged testing. A key part of the CRRC Product Rating Program is the three-year weathering process, which informs consumers of product radiative performance in the field over time.
We are proud members and participants of the CRRC’s (Cool Roof Rating Council) Product Rating Program, in which we label our roof surface products with radiative property values rated under a strict program administered by the CRRC. Contractors, architects, building owners and specifiers can rely on this information to help them determine the best choice for their projects.
UL
UL 790 is a fire test standard created to assess the fire resistance of roof coverings under controlled exposure conditions. It was developed by Underwriters Laboratories to support consistent safety evaluation and third-party verification across the construction industry. UL 790 evaluates roof coverings as installed systems. This approach reflects how fire actually interacts with roofs in real structures, where installation methods, substrates, and layering influence performance outcomes.

ICC-ES
ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) is the industry leader in performing technical evaluations of building products, materials and systems for code compliance. The ICC-ES Listing Program offers a way for manufacturers of building products covered by existing consensus standards to show their product compliance with applicable standards referenced in the building codes and other applicable codes.
Look for the ICC-ES logo (International Code Council – Evaluation Service) to certify that Western Colloid products are in compliance with building codes and requirements nationwide.*

MIAMI-DADE
Miami-Dade is looked upon as having the strictest approval processes in the country. Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) NOA Certification and Product Approval
A Notice of Acceptance (NOA) is a certification issued by the Miami-Dade County Product Control Section for building materials, including roofing systems, To obtain an NOA, manufacturers submit product samples to certified independent laboratories for rigorous testing under High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) conditions, ensuring resistance to extreme wind speeds and structural stress

FLORIDA dbpr
The State Product Approval Program approves those products and systems which comprise the building envelope and structural frame of the building which complies with the Florida Building Code; i.e., (a) Panel Walls, (b) Exterior Doors, (c) Roofing Products, (d) Skylights, (e) Windows; (f) Shutters; and (g) Structural Components. Local product approval is conducted by the jurisdiction(s) having authority and is limited for use to that jurisdiction only.

ASTM INTERNATIONAL
ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials) develops and publishes technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services, including those used in roofing construction These standards are essential for guiding manufacturers, contractors, architects, and building inspectors in the proper fabrication, installation, and evaluation of roofing systems. They ensure that roofing materials meet consistent quality, structural integrity, and performance criteria under environmental stresses such as wind, rain, snow, and thermal cycling.
