PROJECT PROFILE – San Antonio Hut Rehab

It took all the specifications and details that Western Colloid could recommend to turn this eyesore into a respectable member of the community.

Adjacent to the Fort Sam Houston army base this former military Quonset hut was smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood. This project required something more substantial than just the coating or a paint that you would use to cover up the building.  It needed a quality fluid applied roof system that could also be used for walls.Western Colloid was chosen for its versatility in these types of building situations.

The contractor got to use many of the products in Western Colloid’s arsenal to restore this metal building.  After they repaired and replaced the metal panels, our 9000 Roof Wash & Prime to thoroughly clean the surface.  Followed by our #900R MTL + Rust Primer.  Then our 800 W Elastic Cement was used to address all the details including the laps and fasteners.

The area that acts as the roof portion of this half round building had a full polyester reinforced FARR specification using our 720 ARC ElastaHyde Acrylic coating, which was installed over the entire exterior of the structure.This building was insulated from within, combined with Western Colloid’s reflective cool roof and insulating qualities, will offer the future occupants’ comfort in the hot summer months ahead.

Now this once dilapidated structure will serve as a point of interest in the neighborhood instead of the building that time forgot.  We can’t wait to see what it will become.
